UNESDA made a series of commitments to the EU Platform for Action on Diet, Physical Activity and Health in January 2006.  These include not advertising to children under 12, not offering products for sale in primary schools and offering a wide variety of drinks in secondary schools.

The association was one of just four organisations to be named and praised for its actions by the European Commissioner.

European Soft Drinks industry commits to act responsibly in the Digisphere - Introduces guidelines for Digital Marketing Communications online, on phones, games and messenger sites

December 2008 Dr Sigrid Gibson undertook a meta-analysis of the 44 studies looking at evidence of a link between sugar-sweetened soft drinks and obesity.  The study was published in Nutrition Research Reviews in December 2008.  It found no unequivocal link.
